About the event

Join AKEDA for a Fall 2023 series of Project ECHO sessions (details below) where participants will learn from subject matter experts and discuss areas of special considerations in eating disorder treatment.

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER - Registering will allow you to attend all sessions as your schedule allows. Each session offers 1.5 free CE/CME credit to registrants who join live for at least 90% of the event and complete a survey. The didactic presentations will be recorded and made available to all registrants after the event, without CME/CE credits.  See Topics and Fall 2023 Schedule below. All ECHO sessions will take place 6:00-7:30 p.m.Alaska Time.

  • September 28, 2023 — Unraveling the Truths About Binge Eating Disorder, including Understanding Trauma and Using a Strength Based Approach  - Amy Pershing, LMSW, ACSW.  Amy Pershing has clinical experience as clinical director and founder of multiple treatment programs for binge eating disorder and is the author of the book "Binge Eating Disorder: The Journey to Recovery and Beyond." This will be in conjunction with Weight Stigma Awareness Week.
  • October 12, 2023 Practical Considerations for Choosing the Right Level of Care - Dr. Melissa O'Neill, PhD, CEDS and Dr. Yolanda Evans, MD, MP.H. Dr. O'Neill is a certified eating disorder specialist in private practice in Alaska and a clinical faculty member at Adams State University. Dr. Evans is the chief of the Division of Adolescent  Medicine at Children's Hospital in Seattle.
  • October 26, 2023 6:00-7:30 pm - Why Weight?: Determining Weight Restoration Goals and Overcoming Objections from Patients and Families - Grace Schumacher, RD, CEDRD. Grace Schumacher is a registered dietitian with a private practice focused on clients with eating disorders in Alaska.
  • November 9, 2023 6:00 - 7:30 pm - Improving Recovery Outcomes - Dr. Tara Deliberto, PhD. Dr. Diliberto is in private practice as a clinical provider, and also the primary author of the book "Treating Eating Disorders in Adolescents." She also helped create and direct the eating disorder program for adults at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

CME/CE credits are available for the following professions: athletic trainers, dentists, dietitians, nurses, optometrists, PA (physician associates/physician assistants), pharmacists, physicians, psychologists, and social workers. 

Please note: when you register, you may see that the sessions are "pending;" however, that status will change after the first session is held.
