About the event

March 31 and April 1 from 9 AM to 4 PM each day

Limited Number of Tickets -- Only 16 seats available to assure that each participant gets individualized attention

Registration open to Alaska families only until March 7.

Alaskan parents and caregivers of loved ones experiencing eating disorders or mental health issues, we imagine you are feeling exhausted, at a loss, or desperate to find ways to support your loved one. You are not alone, and we have resources that can help.

We know that caregivers don't cause eating disorders and related issues, and in fact are the best resource for a loved one's recovery. What you need is support, some skills, and coaching. If you want to learn how to more effectively connect and communicate with your loved one, improve your ability to provide support during difficult situations (i.e. provide meal support, handle social issues, body image distress, etc.), and help your loved one navigate big feelings, join us for this 2-day skills and strategies workshop. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 31 and April 1, with a break for lunch.

During the 2-Day Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) Workshop, we will cover:

·  Caregiver Blocks (our own “stuff” that can get in the way when we are trying to help our loved ones)

·  Emotion Coaching (what to say when your loved one is having big feelings)

·  Behavior Coaching (what you say when your loved one is doing things that are not helpful toward their healing)

·  Therapeutic Apology (a powerful intervention to help address something that may be keeping you and your loved one stuck)

Research has shown that this 2-Day Workshop leads to:

·  a decrease in caregivers’ fear and self-blame

·  an increase in confidence in supporting your loved one

·  significant improvement in the loved one’s symptoms
