Celebrating Beth Rose, AKEDA Co-Founder

Dear AKEDA Friends,
Last Friday evening, AKEDA co-founder Jenny Loudon, Board of Directors past and present, and distinguished guests celebrated the impact of organizational co-founder and guiding light Beth Rose, who is “retiring” from the Board of Directors.
Beth nurtured AKEDA from an idea – a formal solution to the challenges her family faced when a loved one experienced an eating disorder - into a thriving statewide organization grounded in hope, healing, and collaboration. Her efforts have directly changed the outcomes for eating disorders in Alaska, and for that we are deeply grateful.
From the very beginning, Beth has been a tireless and steady force, offering her time, insight, and heart through thoughtful leadership and more than 8,000 volunteer hours. As Jenny put it, “Beth’s ability to see what’s possible, even in hard moments like when we realized we established a non-profit just months before a global pandemic, has shaped who we are today.”
Beth’s “retirement” from the AKEDA Board of Directors is a meaningful milestone marking the financial sustainability, leadership, mission impact, and vision in place to guide a next chapter.
In recognition of her enduring influence, the board bestowed Beth with board emeritus status in recognition of her unparalleled service. In addition, we are proud to announce the Beth Rose Visionary Fund – a special fund that carries forward Beth’s spirit of thoughtful, bold leadership to help AKEDA meet our greatest needs, at any time. This flexible resource ensures that just like Beth, our organization can act with courage, wisdom and care as we grow.
