Service Description

This is a group for 18+ individuals who experiencing and recovering from eating disorders. Our goal is to create a safe space that everybody can benefit from it, regardless of where you are in your journey or your specific "diagnosis" (note: you do not need a formal diagnosis to join or benefit from this group; as we know, access to care is very limited in our state). Please keep in mind that this will be a free support group for adults, NOT a therapy group, and it will be primarily peer-driven. The support group will meet on Monday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 PM AKST. This group will be facilitated by Anna Jajewski, a master's level student in the UAA clinical psychology program, with supervision by UAA faculty and AKEDA board member Dr. Jenny Poon Ph.D. The group will not provide therapy; rather the goal is to serve as a place for support and the building of a positive, pro-recovery community. Once you register and sign the registration form you will receive an email with the Zoom login information (you only need to register once to attend the group each week). If you don't receive this email, please check your junk folder. IMPORTANT: When you receive the Zoom login, you may use this for all future support groups. When you register, you must acknowledge that you have read and agree to the AKEDA's confidentiality policy and group guidelines. This includes acknowledging that AKEDA provides support -- we are a non-treatment entity. Your recovery process might include the services of treatment professionals external to The Alaska Eating Disorders Alliance. Confidentiality is very important to creating a safe and supportive environment at AKEDA. We ask that everyone involved respect and maintain everyone’s right to confidentiality.
